The flora and fauna become scarcer as you ascend from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut. At Horombo, you might encounter various alpine plants, including giant lobelias and groundsels.
Beyond Horombo, there's a noticeable absence of vegetation due to the harsh alpine conditions. You're unlikely to see much wildlife in this area.

 


Difficulty:

 

This part of the climb is considered challenging due to the altitude gain and the increasing effects of altitude sickness.
Hikers may experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and headaches due to the rapid ascent. It's essential to maintain a slow and steady pace and stay hydrated.
The rocky terrain can also be physically demanding, so good hiking boots and trekking poles are recommended.
